In 2009, the most ambitious comic book film ever made was released. In the advent of The Dark Knight, and the birth of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the world may have been ready for an R rated adaptation of the celebrated graphic novel from director Zack Snyder. This was the first of 4 DC Comics adaptations from the visionary director.
