In the 1990s, Disney was going through their Animation renaissance starting with 1989's The Little Mermaid, Included, Aladdin, The Lion King, and the Academy Award nominated Beauty and the Beast.
At the tail end of this period came the sequel to the early 90s cartoon Goof Troop, which follows Disney characters Goofy and Pete as they are navigating parenthood. In this movie, Goofy is afraid that he has grown too distant from his teenage son Max, and decides to take him away for the summer on a cross-country fishing trip for the summer, the only issue is that this interferes with Max's plans to woo his high school crush, Roxanne.
